Odo and Nelly had a swim in the Thames yesterday, it was high tide, and they stayed close to the shore. I wouldn't recommend any dog to swim in here, the tide rises and falls between 5 and 7 metres twice per day, resulting in some very strong currents. It is out of bounds for them the majority of the time, but when we get the timing right, we have a small window of time in which they can go in the water. We can get the details of the tides from the Port of London Authority http://www.pla.co.uk/pdfs/hydro/NWoolwich_2012_Q2.pdf
which was my job for many years on a Saturday morning, when the children used to kayak on our own tidal River Roding just at the mouth of the Thames.
Needless to say, the Thames is not crystal clear, fresh running water, but brown, brackish, and very thick mud on the shore, unbelievable that we actually have seahorses living here! Anyway, the dogs always get a shampoo and shower after they have been in here, the mud stinks and the thought of what may be living in their coats is enough for me to troop them all into the bathroom and give them a really good wash.
Now, I have tried so many products on the dogs over the years, I found that using less products on the coat after bathing is much better, as a build up on the coat leads to more tangling, so the hunt began for the best shampoo I could find. I read so many stories about 'wonder products', was advised by 'groomers', yet still nothing was as good as I needed, until..... I read something written by a lady I know with a SWD, she recommended a shampoo, so I thought I would try it. Success. So much so that I bought a huge amount at the World Dog Show in Paris where they had a stall. I am now receiving reports back from my puppy owners about how much they like the shampoo and are recommending it too.
So. . . an unashamed piece of advertising for a fantastic product!
