Maybe if Dick Whittington was still around, he may have something to say about pets not being able to travel on cross channel trains!
Whilst our Mayor Boris Johnson is spitting about why Eurostar is refusing to stop their Continental train services at the station purpose built for International services at Stratford in East London, I just live in hope that they may eventually allow pets to travel on these trains. Imagine how wonderful it would be if we could be transported into mainland Europe without the hassle and cost of driving and taking ferries. Though from 2016, Duetsche Bahn will be offering a little competition through the tunnel, as we will be getting trains arriving here from Frankfurt, Cologne and Amsterdam.
Maybe if Dick Whittington was still around, he may have something to say about pets not being able to travel on cross channel trains!

Though the night we had thunder and lightening, some heavy showers, then a much fresher morning to wake up to. A great day to be out in London.
I was treated to a day 'up town' with my first born, my son, and we took part in the celebrations of another first born son, and this time it wasn't thunder, but some ruddy great big guns. Thank goodness the dogs weren't with me. They may be classed as gun dogs, but they could never manage to retrieve what these guns were capable of bringing down! Another very hot day today, and probably an historic day too, as we all await the news of whether we have a new Prince or Princess. A princess would be nice, as sons and daughters of any future monarch of the UK will have equal right to the throne, after the leaders of the 16 Commonwealth countries where our Queen is head of state, approved unanimously the changes at a summit in Perth, Australia. Under the old succession laws, dating back over 300 years, the heir to the throne was the first born son of the monarch, only when there were no sons, did the crown pass to the eldest daughter.... Remy, the little Black Prince, enjoying his time boating on the waterways.
I love going to different places for the dogs to have a swim, and during the summer so many of us will be heading to the lake, beach or river to cool off and have some fun. Just yesterday we saw on the news how a young girl had drowned at a busy leisure centre swimming pool, under the nose of two lifeguards, where in fact there should have been four, the leisure centre has to pay out a large sum of money for its incompetencies and ngligence, but that doesn't bring the little girl back! Today too on the TV news, we have all been warned not to swim in the reservoirs, but the temptation of the deep, cool water is just too hard to resist for some, and of course we also read each year of competent swimmers drowning after not heeding the warnings.
But, would you know if someone was drowning? If you thought you knew what someone looks like when they are drowning, take a look at this, it may not be what you thought! Watch the video in the link. http://blogs.redcross.org.uk/first-aid/2013/07/drowning-the-silent-killer/ In this heat, the dogs have been happy to stay at home, digging holes to lie on the bare cool earth under the shrubs, or lazing on the cool floor indoors. But come evening time, they are ready for a stroll, nothing too strenuous, followed by a dip in the lake to cool off.
When I said puppies were available for active families, I never envisaged how active some of them would be!
From swimming, boating, camping and travelling to name but a few, these puppies have all gone on to wonderful owners with lots of enthusiasm . But of of my latest updates, including a road trip around the in the USA, and a Canal boat holiday, this update is the one that I have so much admiration of the owner for. She is cycling in all this heat, to Paris, by my reckoning, that is around 450 miles. She'll be there for the final of the Tour de France, so if any of you see a young lady cycling from England towards Paris over the next couple of days, give her a great big cheer. I chose the wrong day to clear out the shed. It is sweltering! But it needed doing and I am determined that my shed will become my summerhouse any day soon. The dogs though have been traipsing in and out, noseying at everything I pull out, and the bed leftover from the children's shed parties and sleepovers, has now found a new owner or 4.
With the temperature in London continuing to rise, and looking to reach 32 degrees tomorrow and putting the most of France in the shade for a change, it's lucky that this little boy at just 17 weeks, has brought his swimming things. No fear from him today at the swimming hole down at the side of Itchycoo Park, I'm sure he wants to go dock diving and enter Big Splash :-) There was a dock diving event last weekend in Southend-on Sea, soon they will be in Norwich, so if we keep practising, who knows? Check out their page on facebook.
https://www.facebook.com/dockdogsuk?ref=ts&fref=ts This lovely little Nelly and Odo barbet puppy loves to go to the beach, so is very fortunate to go to on frequent trips to a lovely holiday home in North Wales for lots of sea, sand, and play.
This little barbet puppy has been bouncing through the heather in the highlands of Scotland, then swimming in the pool, river and the Mediterranean Sea in the south of France. He is very well travelled already, after a four thousand km journey by car, and is now known to be an outstanding traveller. He is a bundle of joy and is a kooky, affectionate and loyal barbet.
And this photo encapsulates everything I love about the breed. |
