We're just not long back from a truly unique afternoon walking along the Thames Path from Wapping, meandering through the old cobbled streets and up to Tower Bridge via St Katherine Docks.
Bunting was draped everywhere, and Union Jacks adorned most buildings. At the dock, flags adorned the boats that were polished and scrubbed in preparation for tomorrows pageant.
Food stalls were set up in places previously empty, and throngs of tourists like we've never seen before, milled around admiring the sights. We had Nelly, Odo and Mirabelle with us, so many times we had to stop to chat to people who admired them, explaining what breed they are, and passing on info of the breed to those interested. Many American admirers today, and fortunately I was able to tell them to look up the lovely article on the breed that was published in The Wall Street Journal just last week.
We wandered around the embankment, looking for a good spot to watch the celebrations tomorrow, though I'm sure all the really good spots will be taken by those camping out overnight as at all the big Royal occasions. Boats that are too big to pass under Tower Bridge were all moored nearby, so we had a nice preview.
