Early this morning myself and the girls, along with Nelly, Finny and Georgia headed out of London for a long journey to Georgia's fabulous new family and home. We just stopped to let the puppies relieve themselves, then they traveled extremely well, no travel sickness or whining, they just settled down to sleep. After settling Georgia in, we changed plans about our route home, and cut through Central London. I would never usually have a dog in the front of the car, but Central London at teatime on a Saturday, means you never get above a couple of miles an hour, so little Finny came out of her crate to look at the sights of the West End and each time we came to a stop (which was every few yards) we took the opportunity to take a photo. I hope her new family who are waiting for her to be delivered very soon, like these snapshots of London and the fact that she is now pretty bomb proof with all the different experiences she has had with us.
All dogs need to learn to be left on their own for a while. So whilst still a young puppy seems like a good time to start. It can be hard to find a quiet time in a busy household with the constant comings and goings, and also the other dogs being around, but today I found just the perfect time to leave little Finny on her own indoors. The older dogs were all out on a long walk, so I took Georgia out in the pushchair for her own new experiences. After a short while we returned home, and Finny was none the worse, fast asleep and didn't care that she was on her own. Georgia had a great time watching a cycling proficiency test being held just around the corner, she sat at the bus stop for a while, then over to see the large diggers and builders vehicles. Noises don't seem to bother her, nor uniforms or high-vis jackets. The bicycles were a tad boring for her, I'm very glad, as one of my friends dogs goes into a huge panic whenever he encounters a bicycle or an ice-cream van. So the socialisation continues......
This lovely puppy was the first to go out into the big wide world. She has settled well in her new home, and what a lovely treat for me to receive her photo. Look how gorgeous she is!
I'm sure those that have had children remember well those early days of having Brain Fog. Putting the phone or the car keys down, then not remembering where they are and spending an hour searching, or turning up at an appointment 2 hours late so having to re-schedule, or putting both coffee and a teabag in the same cup. It's usually due to sleepless nights.
Well I think I must have Puppy Brain. After a tiring but lovely weekend, I intended to get out of the house today to run some errands, then spend some time playing with the pups before another one leaves tomorrow. WRONG. Puppy family arrive at the door, and I stand there looking gormless! Yep, Puppy Brain has descended on my home, each and every one of us thought he was going tomorrow. Lucky thing we had gone through the grooming, feeding and socialisation previously, so I only had to find my glasses so I could find some documents that needed printing. No...Puppy Brain descended again and the reading glasses that were at the side of my laptop, remained unfound until after Otto had gone. So Otto, the last of the black boys has now gone on to have new adventures, but not for long, I'll be having him back soon for a holiday (if i remember the date! now what was it?). After a long and very enjoyable Bank Holiday weekend away, a visit for Nelly to see her Mum and the puppies their Grandma, three puppies were settled well into their fabulous new homes. So the puppies this morning were delighted to have their Mum back (and me I hope), and played to their hearts content out in the sunshine. Finny found a lovely cool place to have a rest, then after settling and watching the others play, she dozed off in the strawberry pot
After a lovely morning with puppy visitors, the pups have spent the last full day playing together outdoors. I say last full day, as tomorrow they will be visiting the vet, then beginning to leave this weekend. I thought I'd let you see the fun and games we have trying to get a nice photo for the blog, sometimes it works, other times you get nothing decent, so today we tried photographing two boys, now known as Otto and Remy. Then we play with them a bit, and chop bits off, and we end up with something not too bad!
It's a long time since I last pushed one of these around! But the puppies went to see the ducks on the lake just around the corner, and their ears perked up as soon as they heard them!
It has been a lovely sunny day, the puppies have been playing outside for most of it, with just a few naps in between. They are certainly getting more and more lively with each day that passes. The final countdown is now on, we just want to have a few more new experiences for them before they begin to leave for their new homes, but today is just about play.
